I recognize this as one of the latter. I could opt to believe the view that the honest winner is right where he should be, as President. The problem is, this is indefensible, because the evidence to the contrary is just overwhelming.
So I recoil into my complacency: a renowned peace loving Kenyan. I pick up my life right from where it stopped on that fateful December 27, 2007. Ideally, this means if everyone thinks like me, then doing nothing may help me retain my freedoms of assembly, speech and movement; I get my live coverage by television and radio back. I ignore the police as long as I keep the peace, obey the law and the police, in turn, mind their own business. I get my freedom spot in Uhuru Park and other public spots back. But best of all, I get my family and friends back and can visit them in alien territory whenever I want. With my civil rights in tow, I sit back, sludge through life and wait for 2012 when of course, I will refuse to vote, and wait for the foolhardy to cast their ballot and anyone who wishes to carry out the next electoral coup to do so. After all, the only quest that matters to me is peace, national peace or is it peace of mind?
Sounds pretty easy, or is it?
