The concept of happiness as aptly captured in the movie, and as illustrated in these quotes is not simply a state of mind. It is a state of being. Happiness cannot be sufficiently limited to one meaning or to constrained to one point in time. It is all encompassing and can be adapted to all aspects of individual and collective life: political; social; and economic. So the pursuit of national happiness requires tackling the concerns of the nation, in this case Kenya, at both micro and macro levels. This mind argues that national happiness is achieved when each citizen and the country as a whole is on average “happy”.
